El Valle de Antón is a town built inside the crater of a dormant volcano, around 600 meters above sea level and only two hours from Panama City. The air is cooler, waterfalls cut through the hills and trails climb toward the crater rim.
The first day follows the rim and La India Dormida; the second explores the foothills and thermal pools. We stay in an eco-lodge and eat in the village, where some of Panama's freshest produce reaches the market.
It is a balanced weekend escape: enough climbing to earn the view and enough water nearby to recover afterward.
